Room Data Sheets SmartTool

Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to capture in a systematic manner the details and needs for each space of the project. They are usually prepared by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process however, they may also be revised during the design process to reflect evolving requirements, or to provide an accurate and complete image to those responsible for delivering the project.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create room (or space) sheets of data using the Revit project. It is a fast and precise tool that can be used for sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool can create 3D plans elevations, sheets, and schedule views of rooms or spaces.

By default the tool will employ the Room Numbering template and the Sheet Format created by the Revit project, however, a different sheet name and style may be selected from the Tool Options tab. Click ‘Load configuration …” on the toolbar to replace current settings with previously saved configurations. This can reduce the amount of manual re-work required for each different room or space size and type.

In the ‘Naming: tab, the user can select whether to include the selected room/space name in the sheet’s ‘Sheet Name text box that is displayed on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title option determines what text appears in the title bar for each view. The ‘View Increment’ option specifies how many increments there are between each view on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ is a way to control the space between each view on the sheet, and the ‘Exclude View Titles when estimating the size of views on Sheets:’ will ensure that titles are not included when determining the http://www.searchstreams.info/data-stream-management-system/ number of views that could fit on a single page.
